After speaking with Rebecca Beaton, Resort Manager, I can assure you, if you drive in and put your feet up here, you are in for a treat.

The Riverside Holiday Resort is located right on the river at Urunga and boasts wildlife galore – including native birds, fish and reptiles. Part of the Bellingen Shire, the relaxed little town of Urunga is located just 20 minutes south of Coffs Harbour, making it perfectly accessible for a quick run to the larger shopping centres, cinemas, sporting fields or a night out.

Urunga boasts a great boardwalk, close to one kilometre in length that takes you from the tidal lagoon out to the beach – perfect for a little exploration or fish spotting. As a tributary to the Pacific Ocean, this area offers numerous great beaches and surf spots close by such as Hungry Head and North Beach at Mylestom. The town of Urunga also has many local cafes, stores and shops to casually peruse.

Some wonderful walks are easily accessed from this hidden gem of a spot on our northern coastline. It’s also advisable to explore the nearby bushland at the town’s main beach of Hungry Head which offers rare coastal rainforest. Other enjoyable day trips include the world heritage listed Dorrigo National Park, Go-Karting at nearby Raleigh International Raceway, wine-tasting at the Raleigh Vineyard and Winery or a short trip to Sawtell or Coffs Harbour.

Accommodation Facilities

Rebecca confirmed that their Award Winning Resort boasts 40 x 2 Bedroom fully self contained units, 5 that are wheelchair accessible. Locality of the apartments are 11 upstairs, 21 ground floor accessible.

All units are fully self-contained offering full kitchen with oven/stove and fridge, plus internal laundry with front load washer and dryer.

• All units can cater for up to 6 people at no extra charge
• Reverse cycle air-conditioning, TV, DVD player
• Bedding consists of 1 Queen bed, 2 Single beds and a double pull out sofa lounge

Staff –   Our reception is opened from 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Saturday. Should you have any after hours emergency’s please call 0437851462 for assistance. Staff are trained in Accessible Tourism and are here to help in making sure you enjoy your stay.

Hearing – Our Resort manager has basic sign-language skills, we can also provide pen & paper to help with the exchanging of information.  All our TV’s have closed-caption capabilities.

Vision –  All Certified service animals are permitted.  No other animals are permitted for any reason.

Parking – Our three wheelchair accessible units have designated parking spaces as close as possible outside each unit.  These car spaces measure 2.9m in width with back access. All paths throughout the complex are flat  (no stairs) and easy accessible from carpark to units.

Reception Area –  Riverside Holiday Resorts Reception is located onsite at Atherton Drive, Urunga. 

The tiled reception entrance has  wheel-chair access leading directly to the office with a sliding door that measures 1.4m in width, All paths are flat from the reception area to your unit. We also have luggage trolleys  to help take your luggage from the carpark to unit.

Prior to arrival you will be emailed reception opening hours and arrival information to ensure that  you know where and when keys are available. We also offer after hours check-in if required.

We can arrange any equipment such as bed lifts, mobility aids/scooters, wheelchairs and toilet aids to be delivered to your unit from Willaid Coffs Harbour  (at guests’ expense).

Pool Area – Our pool area is a friendly, inviting and accessible space, with 2 access gates and  flat surfaces to the pool area. We also have a Dolphin mobility chair lift available on request, if you require the lift or help getting into, or out of the pool please see our reception or maintenance manager to arrange this service.  The pool has a ramp and two small steps to enter the shallow end which is 1.2m deep. A handrail has been installed to make it more accessible to guests, when entering and exiting the pool. There is an open shower in the pool area.

Located next to the gate (on the outside of the pool area) is an accessible toilet with a door way  900mm wide.

BBQ Areas- We have two beautiful, relaxing, undercover BBQ areas (each have two electric bbqs) which have paved and timber flooring. There is one located outside the pool area, it has a fabricated table and bench seats so wheelchairs can fit either end under the 780mm high table.

Guest Bathrooms –  Our ground floor accessible bathrooms are on a level, tiled floor. The shower has a small frame 35mm high lip on the bottom of the glass door 635mm. There is no bathtub.

Our wheelchair accessible bathrooms have both grab rails near the toilet and in the shower.  The shower area is on a level, tiled, self-draining floor, free of hobs and sliding tracks, and is a clear space of 1.2 x 1.2m.  The clearance around the wash-basin is more than 1.1m.  The shower head is extendable and detached from the wall, the fittings and fixtures can be reached from a seated position.  There is no bathtub.
