Description

As you drive into the forest-meets-ocean town of Margaret River you may not even realise that, hidden in the tall trees to your right, are rustic wooden cabins, rolling green lawns, and a bubbling winter brook. Fourteen home-away-from-home style chalets, where you are inconceivably immersed in both the sounds of nature and the sound of silence – sitting on your balcony, surrounded by peppy trees and the earth, with the salty breeze ever present.

River glen officially has four stars… but they think you will actually have all of them when you’re gazing up into clear night skies, without street lights or high rises for hundreds of miles to detract from their shine.

Built in all shapes and sizes, they have hideaway’s that are big enough to gather a group of good friends (and their little people) for a week away with plenty of time to make use of the jacuzzi AND the outdoor pizza oven (a feature of the biggest cabin)… and cosy enough for that especially romantic, made-for-two weekend you’ve been dying to take (where the little people stay at home with the grand parents!).

As you turn right onto Carters Road headed toward us, you’ll see the family-owned Margaret River Distilling Company – home to Giniversity, and sister distillery to Limeburners whisky. What you won’t know yet is that the time it takes to get from your chalet front door to the cellar door is about the same amount of time it takes to say “I’ll have a gin and tonic, please! Oh, and one of your tasty wood fired pizza’s. And can I try some whisky while I wait?”

You’ll also find that the brisk couple of minutes it’ll take you to walk into the heart of Margaret River township for an evening out will make you suitably thirsty/hungry/ready for a seat watching some live music, enjoying a locally brewed beer, or sinking your teeth into something tasty.

And though you might be far from home, you won’t be far from all that the Margaret River region has to offer – where the restaurants are world class and so are the waves… where the wineries are celebrated by critics but welcome every man and his dog (literally)… where you can find towering 60 metre Karri trees (the likes of which can’t be seen anywhere else in the world) just a short drive away from a wild and perfect ocean view, swimmable in summer and simply spectacular in winter.

There’s a reason people are drawn back again and again, and Riverglen is here to welcome you, no matter the time or the season.
